This isn't as pretty as the GP32 or GP2X FAQ, but those aren't as prone to changing very often. Once the XGP mini information becomes a little more solid, I'll give it a similar treatment, but, for now, it works. ;-)
So this is the new Gamepark system, eh?
Yes, it is along with the XGP and GPKiDS.
When's this thing coming out?
We haven't gotten an exact release date yet. Gamepark is saying it will be out before the end of 2006. Of course, Gamepark has a history of missing release dates, so we'll see. UPDATE: Well, they missed it. There hasn't been any word on a new release window yet...
What about the batteries?
Well, it uses an internal lithium polymer battery. This is probably to preserve the unit's small size. Some people don't like built-in rechargeable batteries, but I'm cool with it...
Please... I need more storage space!!
Good news! The XGP mini, like the GP2X, utilizes SD cards (which are available up to 4GB with larger cards on the way :-).
Is this backwards compatible?
No, at least not according to reports out of Gamepark. The only XGP that is supposed to be backwards compatible is the XGP Kids. As I stated in Software, Gamepark has images of the XGP mini running GP32 software on their site. Also, the mini was shown running what looked very much like the GP32 BLU OS. Both of those suggest to me it might be backwards compatible, but reports so far say it is not.
Can it do 3D?
Yes. The XGP mini has a 2D/3D accelerator, so it's safe to say that it will be capable of some pretty impressive 3D graphics (though Gamepark has yet to demonstrate this).
Will it have emulators or homebrew?
Probably. We do know that the platform is open to homebrew development, so it just comes down to whether or not developers decide to work on it.
